Frequently asked questions

Who should train with NeurOptimal®?

In general, it is beneficial for anyone who intends to be more relaxed, more focus and/or increase his or her performance level. Individual training objectives may vary and a can focus on private or professional areas. Some users for example focus on increasing performance and resilience in their work or in sports, while others want to feel more relax and improve their sleep. There are those who are keen to get rid of annoying behavioral issues and effectively support weight reduction or giving up smoking.

If you are currently undergoing any medical therapy please consult your physician.

Is the training strenuous?

No, on the contrary it is very relaxing. You can simply lay back, relax and listen to music while your central nervous system is stimulated to optimize itself.

What should I bring along to a training session?

You may but are not obliged to bring a set of earphones. In case you do not have any, your trainer will have a pair ready for you.

How long is a usual session?

A session itself takes 34 minutes but you should plan for about  one hour in total. The first session will take a bit longer to set you up. We can arrange for me to come to your place upon request.

How many sessions?

No standard answer, because everyone’s brain (central nervous system) is unique. Some achieve their desired outcome in less than ten sessions. Some require between ten and twenty sessions, with some requiring more. But you do not need to do ten or twenty sessions to experience benefits.

How frequently should I train?

Three sessions per week for the first 10 sessions is optimal to consolidate early changes. If that is not possible, at least once per week until you reach your desired goals.

Do the results last?

NeurOptimal® dynamical neurofeedback training is cumulative. In other words, the brain continues to learn how to function better with each passing session. Once this learning has become solidly anchored in the brain, the brain simply cannot “not know.” In this sense, then, the results are indeed lasting. Here is an analogy: Can you imaging to unlearn how to ride a bicycle? I guess not, even if you don’t train for a long period of time. However, as new events occur and leave their traits in your brain and you might feel distracted again and it will only take a few “tune-ups” for the brain to get back to its most optimal level.

Where does this technology come from?

The origins of neurofeedback date back to the 1960s. For a very long time, this approach was only offered in a medical framework by brain specialists (neurologists, etc.). NeurOptimal® has fundamentally altered this framework in the early 90th by offering a system which is no longer dependent upon a brain specialist, since its expertise is found within the cutting edge technology of the software. NeurOptimal® is impressively effective and completely safe because it does not invade the brain in any way, it just provides crucial information for it to make use of.

Is there scientific evidence of the benefits of NeurOptimal and Neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback is a scientifically approved method which has recently also been applied more and more in medical research. Application areas are varied and focus mainly on the therapy as a way of healing. Currently, there are a number of positive results published describing the success in using NeurOptimal®. The main advantage using this method as opposed to traditional use of medication is the long lasting effect without any side effects. How do Yoga and Meditation compare with NeurOptimal®?

Actually, neurofeedback training with NeurOptimal® is like a mindfulness training for your central nervous system. However, it happens without you conciously taking any active part in it. As with the long-term effects of regular yoga and meditation effects of NeurOptimal® training are very similar. Results of NeurOptimal® training, however, are faster to achieve, thus more efficient and much more effective.
